Meet Mid-City CAN volunteer Earl Jackson

Earl JacksonHello, my name is Earl Jackson and I’m working as a media volunteer with Mid-city CAN. I’m a transplant from Kalamazoo, Mich., where I was born and raised. It was the U.S. Navy that brought me to San Diego, and now I’m a proud home owner in Azalea Park in City Heights.

I’m a trained graphic designer and I love creating fine art. Even as a child I had an obsession with drawing and painting. Currently, I have my own freelance design business called E-designs. I’m a graduate of San Diego State University where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Arts and Sciences with an emphasis in Graphic Design. I also recently completed the Interactive Multimedia Certificate program offered by the San Diego Continuing Education Department. I’ve worked as a graphic designer for several businesses in San Diego such as The City of San Diego, McGraw/Hill and Kisco Senior Living.

I enjoy working with people to help them improve their lives. I truly believe that everyone has the potential for good. This is why I volunteer. Nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing someone overcome their adversities and make the most out of their lives. To me, nothing is better than assisting someone and then witnessing them assist another person. Paying it forward is one of the best parts of being human. I’m a proud resident of City Heights and I’m honored to be a part of this community. This is why I volunteer and this is why I feel so lucky to be able to volunteer at Mid-City CAN. The entire staff here has been so nice to me and has made me feel like a part of their family. I can’t express how much I enjoy coming to work and working with this group of people.
